Web of Things Semantic Interoperability in Smart Buildings

Buildings are the largest energy consumers in Europe and responsible for approximately 40% of EU consumption 36% greenhouse gas emissions Europe. Two-thirds building is residential buildings. To achieve efficiency, buildings being integrated with IoT devices through use smart services. For instance, a space heating service reduces by dynamically apartments based on indoor outdoor temperatures. The W3C recommends Web Things (WoT) standard to enable interoperability Web. However, context building, ability search discover metadata available WoT ecosystems remains challenge due limitation current Discovery, which only includes directory containing without including metadata. Integrating device's same can provide better discovery capabilities services providers. In this paper, we integrate into Discovery construction Building Description JSON-LD file. This domOS Common Ontology (dCO) semantic ecosystem within Horizon 2020 project. integration results Thing Directory. dCO integrates SAREF core ontology ontology, devices, We have implemented validated top implementation also made community.
